We're Back From Defcon (and boy my arms are tired)

Defcon33 was a huge success! This was my first time at Defcon and Midwest Gadgets' first-ever vendor event! From doors open to doors closed i was constantly doing demos and showing off the fun and cool tech that we have to offer here. The Field Detectors were given away as freebies throughout the event. They were great demonstration tools for our two exclusive new products.

Flipper Zero Field Enhancers!!

We announced it on our socials (If you don’t follow, you should!) but we have officially been granted use of the Defcon Jack for use on these repeaters! These were going to be exclusively sold only at Defcon; however, we have been granted permission to sell our remaining stock of them now that Defcon is over! These are limited-run items. Once sold out, this particular silkscreening option is gone forever!

It may look like a sticker, but it is not! These are custom-cut and contoured to fit the back of the Flipper Zero perfectly. Created in Flex PCB, it is two layers of polyimide with an embedded copper double-layer antenna tuned to 13.56 MHz (+/-0.150 MHz). The antenna exists directly below Jack (hence his instructions to “Point towards Target”). When Jack enters an NFC (13.56 MHz) field, the antenna will resonate, reshape the field, and tune it to be saturated and more aligned with the appropriate 13.56 MHz that NFC needs to operate cleanly in.

These will make emulating tags with the Flipper easier and will resolve Mifare Classic emulation errors that occur due to poor field generation by readers. The expected distance increase is going to be dependent upon the power of the reader or tuning of the card. But you can guarantee that with this device, the field generated is going to be saturated and directly over the NFC antenna of the Flipper to ensure proper and quick scanning every single time.

They will not interfere with the LF antenna, and all other functions remain unaffected. It will only make your Flipper better!

Flipper Zero Extenders + Card Antenna!

These were a bigger hit than we thought they would be! The concept is the same but with a cable inbetween two tuned antennas. The pcb that goes on the back of the flipper is precisely milled to match the outline and screw hole locations, so no concerns with proper placement. These are made in FR4 and sport the same Tuned antenna but with the Midwest Gadgets logo instead of Defcon Jack. What makes these different is that on the other end of the logo is an IPEX/U.FL connector. We will be including 30cm male-to-male IPEX cables; however, you can add longer ones if needed. For the standard version, we include a small 27mm antenna. However, you can upgrade to the card Antenna. The card antenna uses the same 27mm antenna coil inside but the PCB is in the shape of a typical contactless card. Be covert but look like you fit in! The concept is the same as all of the extenders. Place the board on the back of the flipper with the included double sided tape, or put it between the silicone case and the flipper. Connect the IPEX cable to the flipper and then to the round antenna or the card antenna. From here, you can perform reads, emulation, or writes with the data passing through the cable to either end. Performance isn't hindered and should work exactly like if you had the flipper itself scanning the device. I have secured a small amount of the flipper extenders but they are currently ordered and will arrive in the next couple of weeks. The card antenna's are currently completely sold out, but those should also arrive in a couple of weeks. Ive enabled backorders for this so you can pre-order from the shipment that is arriving to secure your order gets through when they get in!
